We were not expecting these little balls of sweetness until the weekend - if at all, since I could barely imagine it would really happen - but I heard cheeping this morning!
It's been twenty days since we popped a dozen eggs under our pair of broodies and four, maybe five perfect little cheeping fluffies have hatched so far. Just twenty days! That seems something pretty close to magic.
I'm not sure who's more excited, me or the boys!

Oh my, those little cuties are, well, just too cute! :-)
ReplyDeleteSqueeeee!!
ReplyDeleteEeek! Baby birds!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and look how sweet those boys are with the little critters.
ReplyDeleteThanks people, we're just enjoying it so much! Our total is eleven chicks out of twelve eggs. No sign of a twelfth egg any more, it's been a while since we counted them, so perhaps it broke a while ago and the chooks 'disposed' of it. Eleven peepers!
ReplyDeleteOh arent they cute! And fluffy!! Argh now I want baby chickens.
ReplyDeleteOh, enjoy! You have so much more enjoyment and excitement ahead of you and the children with these little chicks! -heather
ReplyDeleteSuch cute little bundles of fluff :O) Are you going to keep them all???
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm about to start cutting my Miz Mozelle dress that was totally inspired by you!
ReplyDeleteHi Emma - we're hoping to keep two or three girl chicks, er, eat whichever ones turn out to be roosters when they're about 4 - 5 months old, and if there are any girls left we have some friends who'd like some. We look forward to probably using one of the new chicks as a broody mother next spring. Happiness :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your Miz Mozelle, it comes together fairly quickly which is great, I can't wait to see photos!
oh, how sweet! :) Barefoot Mama
